Custom Half Marathon Medals

13.1 deserves weight. Thicker castings, layered 3D relief.

From $1.55 per unit at 1,000+ · 100-unit minimum · 3D proof in 48 hours

13.1 miles is the fastest-growing race distance in the country, and half marathoners compare medals. Weight is what they notice first: our half marathon line starts at 4 mm thick with layered, multi-level 3D relief that reads from across the finish chute.

This is the distance where design ambition pays off — cutout numbers, dual-plating (gold face, silver accents), and oversized 13.1 numerals are all standard options, not upcharges on the design side.

Options beyond the standard spec are itemized in your quote — and we beat any written competitor quote by up to 10%. See the full race medal pricing guide.

Pricing is by size, not by sport: a 3-inch medal runs about $2.50 each at 100 units for any race — larger sizes slightly more, smaller sizes less, and same-size medals start at the same price. Design and proofs are quoted with your order. New designs carry a one-time mold fee (generally around $100, depending on size); reorders of the same design never pay it again. Specialty builds — spinners, moving parts, oversized cutouts — can add to the per-medal cost.

What half marathon directors are ordering

Big 13.1 cutouts

Open-back numerals with your city skyline visible through the cutout — the defining half marathon medal look.

Dual plating

Antique gold face with silver accent plates makes detail pop without adding enamel colors.

Split-year series

Spring and fall halves that form one design when hung together drive repeat registration.

PR bell backs

A cast “PR” strike zone on the reverse gives first-time halfers a photo moment at the results tent.

Half Marathon questions

How heavy should a half marathon medal be?

Finishers equate weight with quality at this distance. Our 4 mm castings at 3.5–4 inches land around 4–5 oz (110–140 g) — solid in the hand without straining the ribbon.

Can we do a different medal for the half and the full?

Yes, and most directors do — a shared visual family with a bigger, thicker version for the marathon. Quoting both together usually beats quoting them separately.

What does a 500-runner half marathon typically spend on medals?

At the 500–999 tier our half marathon medals are $1.85 each — design, proofs, and revisions included, plus shipping and the one-time mold fee ($100).
